2004 VOICES CONTEST WINNER

Sponsored by Charming Shoppes, Ltd.

“Dear Artists, Please extend my deepest appreciation to your entire work force for all their fine creative efforts. It has been my experience, over the past 15 years, to work with some really outstanding volunteers. However, at this time, I must say that your group has taken the lead.

You have captured the heart and soul of Green Chimneys and brought it to life on the wall. That Monday, when the children and staff arrived to the dining hall for breakfast, I saw everyone’s jaw drop. It is truly amazing.

How can we possibly thank you for all of your fine efforts? On behalf of the children, staff, and animals, thank you for making who we are and what we do such a beautiful sight to behold. We love you all for making this possible.”

Green Chimneys Thanks Artists Paint for Peace

"Artists Paint for Peace created a beautiful mural in each of our shelters, that reflects our mission and goals. They have provided a peaceful way to welcome the women and children that come into our shelters fleeing abuse and neglect."

"It is with great pleasure that Safe Horizon supports Artist For Peace, Art Mentor Program. Artist’s for Peace has been working with Safe Horizon’s Lotus House Shelter and with their volunteer artist’s have produced a beautiful mural for the children’s area.

The proposed Art Mentor program will provide art teachers and materials to work with our residents in the shelters. Children in shelters face many barriers created by witnessing violence. The Art Mentor program is designed to give these children an outlet for meaningful recreation to allow them to blossom creatively, learn new skills, and interact with their peers in a structured, supportive environment.

We look forward to working with Artist Paint For Peace in all of the Safe Horizon Shelters."

"Dear Lynda,

It was wonderful to meet you today and join in mural painting at Mt. Sinai. Having contributed, I will always feel a personal connection to the 4th floor Family Room!

I will take a look at your website and see what other projects I can take part in.

Continued success with Artists Paint for Peace. I look forward to working with you again.
